You mentioned some of my favorites. Thomas Crown Affair, The Mummy series, Last of the Mohicans and Count of Monte Cristo. Great Movies.

One of my favorite love stories is Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour. It's about a writer who becomes obsessed with the photo of an actress in the nineteen hundreds. He tavels back in time to be with her (I adore time travel stories). Although I hate the ending of the movie, the connection between them is powerful as is the piece of clasical music throughout the movie. Sigh!

Ah, Ladyhawke. Sigh. I watched that at least a hundred times. How does Ferris Bueller get himself into such situations?!?!

Welcome to my blog, Jose. Thanks for commenting. :D
Yes, I totally agree. Self publishing is a friendlier avenue, but definitely not an easier one. But I love a challenge. And with a marketing background, it just doesn't seem to make financial sense to do all of that marketing work...for someone else's profit but mine. Not to mention that the traditional publishing route just doesn't feel like entertainment. While we want to write and earn a living, I think most of write because of the desire to entertain readers. Slogging through the traditional route just seems to purge a lot of passion and desire out of a lot of great writers. And in the end, the reader miss out on some fantastic entertainment. :J
Hope to have to you stop by the blog again soon, Jose.
Eternally,
LG Alfano

Interesting thoughts and analogy you got here. Makes sense though. As to which path to choose, I must say self publishing (as you have already realized) is friendlier to new aspiring authors in terms of getting inside. Plus, self-publishing offers customizable options (book cover design, marketing platforms, etc.).

Hi LG,

Interesting analogy. There are pros and cons to every decision we make. If not, they would be easy. I say go for what feels right for you. Good luck!

FYI. If you do self pub I would SO buy your books. I've been dying to finish them since I got a little taste at Gotham.

Preditors & Editors....that's a site I was trying to think of earlier this week. I just started following Write-or-Die with Dr. Wicked. A friend has used his tool that gives you nudges on a timed basis to keep you focused on writing. I hear that's especially good during that important brain dump required to get a new book out of one's head. Which is what I need now. I need someone or something to be accountable to as I get Book Two totally out of my head. I haven't found anyone wanting to pair up to do massive writing for the month of December.

But...now I am reminded of the Orlando SFF group. I have been missing your meetings for over a year now. How's that going? I'll look up the next meeting.
